In just his 2nd start with the newly acquired Sprint Car, Garrett and his team qualified
25th with a time of 12.557. He finished 5th in the Main Event at one of his favorite tracks, Ventura Raceway.!

There is a new mount in the stable these days, with a new Dirt Sprint Car. This shot is a Ventura where he finished 5th. He won the 4th heat of the night at the 2006 Oval Nationals on Thursday night. photo by Steve Lafond
The Hansen Race Team headed out for Tucson, AZ this Memorial Day weekend. After working all week and college studies, the team hauler began the trek to the Desert on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, the team was up early and ready to go. Garrett garnered fast time on Friday night, but developed some handling problems late in the main event. He was forced to retire before the checkered flag. After working most of the night on Saturday to go through the Stealth/Fontana #70 Midget, they returned to Tucson's USA Race Park on Sunday, ready to race. Garrett qualified 6th and won Sunday's accident-shortened race, leading all but one of the 35 contested laps to beat Barber, Rodriguez, Mike Leslie and Rodela.
Next race is Ventura on June 10th.
The start of the USAC Western Midget Series for 2006 has been exciting for Garrett and his Hansen Racing Team. First it was Bakersfield, where he clearly dominated, leading all 27 laps of the "confusing" event, by a full straightaway until the engine blew up in a large fireball bringing out the yellow and checkered flag. He thankfully was not physically injured. At Ventura, on April 8th, he proved the Bakersfield event was not just luck, as he recorded his first win of the season in the #70 Midget.
Next race for Garrett will be Ventura on June 10th.
Also exciting news for Garrett - He is currently looking for sponsors for a USAC Sprint Car Ride that he is putting together. In addition to racing, Garrett has been accepted to Cal Poly's Mechanical Engineering Program and LongBeach to continue his education. He hasn't chosen which school yet, but he will before Fall of 2006.
